Enfocus PitStop Server

Enfocus PitStop Server is the stand-alone server / hotfolder application that lets you automatically correct, preflight and validate PDF files using Certified PDF technology, and export them to various image formats.

IMPORTANT! PitStop Server is changing. From June 2020 onwards, the Enfocus Switch Core Engine is combined with PitStop Server. A new PitStop Server license gives you immediate access to Enfocus Switch (does not apply to the monthly subscription).

To guarantee accurate results, it is crucial that the quality of PDF files is checked before they are printed or published online. Preflighting – checking PDFs for problems with colors, images, bleed, etc. and correcting them before the documents are printed – has become standard practice in the industry. Today, more than 80% of printers use professional preflight tools. PitStop Pro is an impressively powerful tool for manually correcting problems in PDF files at the last moment and making them production-ready. PitStop Server 2017 offers the same power but combines it with a high degree of automation. Thanks to a convenient monitored-folder architecture, PDF files can be inspected and corrected in an automated way.

Enfocus PitStop Server automates the optimization of PDF file quality for a range of purposes, such as print, the internet, trouble-free display on an iPad or even long-term archiving. PitStop Server provides key capabilities for automating your production processes: it takes editing and correction to a higher level. And all without any user having to intervene. Embedding fonts, converting or remapping colors, renumbering pages, setting correct page boxes, adding stamps, inserting cover pages and moving, rotating, shrinking or enlarging objects: these are just some of the possibilities. And through built-in transparency-flattening capabilities, you can guarantee predictable results when files are printed on different systems. The comprehensive preflight engine makes it possible to check for potential problems such as font issues, low-resolution images, colors, etc. Excessive ink coverage can be detected while checking transparency, overprint settings, overlapping objects and layers. PitStop Server can automatically generate a complete preflight report that provides an overview of all problems found in your files. You can output XML or annotated PDF reports, as well as the same user-friendly preflight reports as in PitStop Pro.

Smart Preflight means that a preflight profile can use checking and correction values that come from an external source, i.e. a source outside the preflight profile. Examples of such sources? XML or JDF job tickets and – when integrated with Enfocus Switch – manual input from databases and systems such as a MIS (management information system) or an advertising management system.
