What is the Durst Open Software Initiative?
With the Open Software Initiative, Durst focuses on openness, connectivity and workflow automation. A key foundation is callas technology (pdfToolbox), which Durst acquired in April 2025. That proven preflight and correction engine powers the PDF automation. As an official reseller we sell and support this software, with Durst assisting us with the first on-site installation.
Smart Factory PDF Editor
A blazing-fast, standalone PDF editor built specifically for print-ready work. Edit text, images, dielines and colour separations at object level, with deep analysis of overprint, transparency, colours and page boxes. Perfect for last-minute corrections without needing Adobe Acrobat — and with a direct connection to Prepare.
Smart Factory Prepare
Prepare automates your entire prepress: preflight, correction, versioning, nesting, imposition and online customer approval — all in one modern browser interface. Available in three editions (Starter, Automate and Integrate) so you can start small and grow with your production. Via REST API and XML hotfolders you connect Prepare to your ERP/MIS with ease.
Smart Factory Produce
Produce is the RIP and colour engine of the Smart Factory. Where Prepare makes your files print-ready, Produce delivers the actual, colour-accurate output — with the exclusive GMG colour technology for first-time-right results, ink saving and fast rendering. Available as Produce and Produce Automate, each in sizes S, M and L, so it grows with your production.
